I wanted to post this then, but I was feeling absolutely miserable. I ended up sleeping all day. What a bowl of boosauce!</i></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">Remember when we anxiously waited to go trick-or-treating? I recall those days where my brothers and I would race home from school on Halloween. We would eagerly put on our costumes and rush to head out the door. Our mother would try to stop us because it would only be 3 in the afternoon. We had no care though. The open doors and free candy were our cravings.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">One of my favorite costumes as a child was Snow White. I always found that funny considering my favorite Disney Princess will ALWAYS be Ariel. Yes, I am a bit obsessed. :) But that's a whole different story. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">My family had a Halloween tradition. We would go trick-or-treating for as long as we could carry our pillowcases around the neighborhood. A stop at the house to dump the candy was always a must so we could continue to walk around. My brothers and I would go from house to house until about 8pm or our little feet grew tired. Finally, we would head back home and finish the night with one of my favorite movies. The Rocky Horror Picture Show. My mother always ordered us food from our favorite pizzeria . After food and the movie, my brothers and I would dump all of our candy onto the floor. We would put aside the candy we did not care for and bring it to school for other kids. Let's just say we were never hurting in "candy land". There would be three huge spaghetti pots filled with candy between the three of us. Great times. Don't you wish you could re-live your childhood memories? I certainly do.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">Well, there's a little update for now. Not much, but I promise to come back with some of my "comfort food" recipes for next time. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><br />
</span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">What an appropriate time to start blogging again. Today's date has significant meaning to me. It makes 1 year until I am Mrs. James Heatley. Time has flown by since he proposed Christmas Eve 2010. I sit here and wonder how quickly life does really pass us by. The real whirlwind experience begins.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">I apologize for disappearing from the blogging world. My life has been beyond hectic since the last time I wrote. I picked up so many hours at work during the summer to help put money into the wedding account. Personal problems arose. Those problems were pretty consistent. It seems as if James and I can't catch a break. We have stayed strong though. It has brought us closer together.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">A bit of good news is that I have a full time position as a Nurse's Aide now. I get my health benefits, PTO, and most importantly - a steady income. The only con to my position is that I am working night hours; three 12 hour shifts a week. You would think I have enough time during the week to enjoy myself. Heck no. I feel so worn out and lazy half the time. My schedule looks like this: Week #1: Monday, Tuesday, Friday. Week #2: Saturday, Sunday, Thursday. Three 12 hour shifts in a row is pretty exhausting. I know I will get used to eventually though. It has only been a little over a month.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">Now do not mind my rambling and going from on topic to another. My head is filled with so many updates. Another piece of good news is that James and I have our own apartment. We are waiting to move in November 1st. We were not expecting to move because James still has jobs here and there, but it was a decision that will be the best for the two of us. The only problem I have is that I had to dig into the wedding account to help fund this move because it was unexpected. Everyone I have spoken to have said that things work out. I am hoping this is true. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">I have been filled with so many emotions lately. Between moving and the wedding in a year, I feel very lost, nervous, and scared. I have expressed these feelings to several people, but no one has seemed to understand. I get told to relax and things will work out (this is a constant "reminder"), but I do not feel in control sometimes. I worry that I will not have enough time, money, or energy to pull this all off. Some days I wish I was super<u><b>woman</b></u>.</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;">Well, I suppose I have written enough for an update. I can promise you though that I will be back with some new and fresh ideas on my apartment decor once I figure out my couch. <b>UPDATE: </b><i>I bought my couch tonight a Value City! It's so big and comfy. My goodness! There's so much space and enough room for three people.</i></span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">Sorry for my disappearance! I picked up extra hours at work so I am able to pay off my credit card. I was initially going to put the extra paycheck (got paid three times this month! Yay bi-weekly checks), but I decided it would be best to put the money towards paying off my credit card. I guess I got in the spirit when James was able to pay off his bills today. How exciting. Now he just needs a job and we shall be set! I cannot wait until everything starts coming together even more. :) Keep your fingers crossed though. He has an interview tonight for a part-time job until he HOPEFULLY gets into the union. </span></span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">Looking for an update on my venue choice? Well, read on! James and I decided to put down a deposit on The Smithville Inn on Sunday, March 13th. This is helping me figure out all the little details as well. Now begins the search for photographers. I have no worries about the food, wedding cake, and ceremony since all three will be taken care of by the inn. Fantastico! I am DYING to share pictures with you all. Soon enough though! James, his parents, and I are going to go to the Smithville Inn for dinner one night after enjoying the little shops. I am very excited. C'mon warm weather! Grace us with your presence.</span></span><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">Not much else has taken place. As I mentioned earlier, I've been a busy bee with work. I am enjoying my 5 days off, but still have household "chores" to accomplish. Laundry, cleaning, cooking, and grocery shopping are calling my name! Until next time, dolls.</span></span><br />

Decision making time!<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">James and I went to the Smithville Inn in </span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">Smithville</span></span><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"></span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><a name='more'></a>, NJ. The inn is over 300 years old and it's absolutely stunning. I've been to the town itself, but never in the inn. They have shoppes all over the place. Lodges for guests to stay at. And this gorgeous inn. It fits me to the T. </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">I walked into the room and felt like it was everything I could imagine and more. I could feel my face lighting up. James confirmed it. Everything about it made you feel like it was home away from home.</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">This is the first place James and I have looked at. I'm so dead set on booking this place though because of how beautiful it is along with how amazing Heather (the wedding coordinator) is. She's a one-woman show so everything lies on her shoulders. She said she has to see, touch, and make sure everything is done perfectly. LOVE IT!!</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">I don't have any pictures that I took myself, but there's a link above (if you haven't clicked on it yet) where you can check it out if you'd like. I don't believe that the Smithville Inn website does the place any service, but I will try to get pictures for you guys when it's warmer and everything is blooming. </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">In other news, I ordered brooches for my brooch bouquet. I went on www.fabulousbrooch.com and order 15 for now. Here's a picture of what I have so far (not including family brooches).</span></span><br />

I spent $250 on:</span></span><br />
<br />
<ul><li><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">Fuji Instax 210</span></span></li>
<li><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">Film for the camera (five boxes worth)</span></span></li>
<li><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">Two ring bearer cameras for my most adorable ring bearer</span></span></li>
<li><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">A special day kit for ring bearer</span></span></li>
<li><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">Raindrop flutes for both me and James</span></span></li>
</ul><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">The Knot's wedding shop also threw in a free "Bride-to-be" tote. I dig. </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br />
</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">I was so, so, so excited when UPS pulled up to the house today. I was not expecting them until later in the afternoon. I did a little dance, skipped, and waited for the delivery man. The box of goodies was finally in my hands. I could not get the box opened up fast enough. I dug through the peanuts and pulled out each item and examined them. I looked at everything lying on the couch and thought to myself "this is really happening. This is for MY wedding." I can only imagine how I will be when I try on the dress. </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br />
</span></span></div><div><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">So, dear blog followers, please share with me your first wedding items? How did you feel? Did reality sink in then or were you still on cloud 9?</span></span></b></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br />
</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">Now for a quick update. I have not been able to update because I was working Friday-Sunday. I am up by 5 am and home by 3:30 in the afternoon. By that time, I am usually spent. So, if you are wondering where I am, my hiatus is most likely due to work. </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br />
</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">Anyways, I was looking forward to going to the Smithville Inn for a bridal show. I decided the day of that it would not be best for me to go because the drive is about 30 minutes. The bridal show was at an odd time of night (in my opinion anyways) and I was called to work Friday morning. I usually lay down in bed by 9 so I get tired and am able to sleep the night. I am disappointed that it worked out the way that it did, but I know there will be other opportunities as time goes on. Hooray for bridal season!</span></span></div>Desiréehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09272907135201115199noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6787164576954551856.post-23590414500839455102011-03-03T15:15:00.000-08:002011-03-03T15:15:22.084-08:00First comes love, then comes marriage. But when does the house come into play?!<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">This is a post about everything in between. </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">James and I are currently living with is parents. I adore them both. They have been wonderful to me throughout the past 1.5 years. I couldn't be thankful enough for having such great and amazing future parents in law. But let's face it, who DOESN'T want to be on their own?! </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">I've been dreaming about James and I having our own place since our relationship became serious. Which was fast. We were living about 60 miles away from each other for the first year of our relationship. It was tough at times, but the distance made our hearts grow fonder. =P </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">I "officially" moved into his parent's house around Christmas time. We thought we had a few things figured out financially to where we would both stay here a month or two and then be out on our own. Unfortunately, life throws curveballs and things don't work out as planned. </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">I had no problems with this until now. Even though our wedding isn't until 2012, we are still taking steps here and there with our planning. I am becoming so excited about everything that I can't even stand myself sometimes. All of the planning and excitement has me thinking about our future. This led me to begin looking at houses. Houses that I can't afford right now. It's beginning to devastate me! I know we'll eventually move into our own place, but my worry is when? </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">We will most likely start out at an apartment, but will we ever be able to save up the money for a house? Do we dive right in and start to save for house along for the wedding? There's so many questions that run through my mind. It helps motivate me though. </span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">My major fear is that James and I will never get far into making it on our own for awhile. Grocery and gas prices keep climbing. The house market is coming down, but not much. How will we ever make it on our own? I know that I would do absolutely anything to get us standing on our own two feet. I can tell you right now that it's my plan.</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br />
</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">I have a dream that will soon become reality.</span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">Tonight is the night I finally sat down with my FMIL and fiance to figure out our guest list. Obviously we won't know a final count until it's all said and down. We also have a year or so to meet new people as a couple. But this is giving us an idea of what we're looking at for now.</span></span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br />
</span></span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">As you can see (though the picture is rotated on my computer, but different on here) - one side of the guest list is longer than the other. The left side is those that I am inviting. It's mostly family. His side is family and a few friends. We don't necessarily have mutual friends, but I know his friends and he knows mine. That's about it. I feel bad for some reason. I'm not really sure as to why, but I feel like my guests are going to be dominating the day of the wedding. I am hoping that as a year goes by, his list will grow with friends and possibly more family. I know he has no worries about it whatsoever. He's so laid back about a lot. I love it. This blog is just to share my feelings and sort of "vent" about it. </span></span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br />
</span></span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">The majority of us brides have anxiety over our guest list. Who will come? Who won't RSVP? Will there be enough people, chairs, tables, etc?! I think this is the only part of planning that I absolutely dread! So, as the year goes by, I will find ways to prevent the anxiety and share it with you. </span></span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;"><br />
</span></span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: 'Courier New', Courier, monospace;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #666666;">So, ladies, I ask you. Who invited more? Or was your list pretty much even?</span></span></span>Desiréehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/09272907135201115199noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6787164576954551856.post-1603702388770826162011-03-01T05:10:00.000-08:002011-03-01T08:12:04.332-08:00Lucy.... I decided to name it this because my life is changing each day that I wake. I have a wedding to plan. A new job that is challenging. Living away from home and my family once again. Life will always throw curveballs at us. I plan to share my ways on how I embrace it all and take things with stride.</span></span></span><br />
